Pieds

Body series
In the depths of my body and of my hands, I unravel my emotions

The experience of the trauma of conformity to being and appearing.

The series “Pieds et mains liés” (Hands and Feet Tied) examines how the injunction to conform to being, or rather to appearing, can become a traumatic experience.

Pieds

Four feet, four ways forward. The plaster cast used to correct the orientation of the foot from childhood is a physical trauma. It confines, it helps to walk straight but it also hinders movement. In these four casts, the artist explores the symbolism of the mould into which one has to fit. From blood-red wax to multiple intertwined threads, from the perfect rigidity of plaster to the suppleness of silicone, Aurélie Beer tames all forms.
